The deaths of countless numbers of black and brown women, men, and children through police and other violence is angering, frightening, traumatizing, and exhausting. As a psychologist and a queer black woman whose mission is to create space for clients to express the fullness of all their identities, particularly people of color and LGBTQIA+ folks, Momentum Psychology and Performance stands in solidarity with people across the globe against the forces of oppression and affirms that Black lives matter. We recognize the impact of racism, prejudice, implicit bias, privilege, and power on the mental health and emotional wellbeing of people of color and are committed to providing and promoting safety, healing, and empowerment within and outside of our doors.
